I’m d.j., aka afronautix, A digital illustrator based in dallas, tx.

Even at a young age, D.J. was always known for being a busy body with an insatiable appetite for knowledge. A natural multipotentialite, D.J. curiosity has had him involved in things such as music, programming, Japanese culture and, of course, art. At the age of 23, D.J. decided to commit to becoming an professional artist and thus the persona of Afronautix was born.

D.J.’s mission as a artist is “to increase the representation of Black people and POC in the realms of art and anime”. He accomplishes this by intentionally creating a diverse range of characters in a style that combines Afro-centric design with an Anime-esque style. The goal is to display the beauty of the Black figure in a medium where Black bodies are traditionally underrepresented.

He is currently working on expanding his area of expertise into the fields of animation and 3D sculpting. He is also producing a web graphic novel series to be released early 2021.
